The original residence of Clan Mcleod, Dunvegan castle is the oldest inhabited (continuously) castle in the entire country of Scotland. It has been around for 800 years since the McLeods resided there.

The castle can be toured and visited as well as the trails and woodland surrounding the property. It is a magnigificent piece of history that is a must see for anyone and everyone visiting the island.

  • Galleries

The local artists create memorable pieces as well as artisan crafts that make great souvenirs but also offer incredible insight into the history and the local culture. There are stores, street vendors and markets throughout the isle depending on where you are and what it is that you are looking for.

  • Skyeskyns

This is the only sheepskin producer in Scotland. The tour is free and insightful into one of the oldest industries and economic activities in Scotland. There are products for you to buy as well.

  • Talisker Distillery

This distillery is the oldest functioning distillery on the isle and is beautifully located along the shore of Carbost. There are tours available where you can see all of the traditional tools and equipment that have and are used to create liquor and of course, don’t forget to taste the incredible single malt scotch whisky.
