If you are planning a visit to the Isle of Skye make sure you make time for some, if not all, of the amazing things that the island has to offer. Below are just a few suggestions to enhance your overall experience when visiting:

  • The Fairy Pools

Notorious for their clear water, the wild swimming here draws people from all over. Take a refreshing dip and experience the clearest water and most refreshing swimming hole.

  • Three Chimneys

No, not actual chimneys, Three Chimneys is a restaurant and a good one at that. Known all over the world and holding a plethora of awards and rave reviews, this restaurant requires a reservation but you will not be disappointed. Not to mention the opportunity to experience and enjoy local produce and cuisine.

  • Boat Trips

There are a number of different boat trips and tours on the island. Hop on one for the day to see the best of the island. From sea eagle watching (which is breathtaking) to island hopping, and boat tours all of which offer an all encompassing experience. You can even boat to Lock Coruisk that is surrounded and fed by the Cuillin mountains. Serene but exciting, the lochs are a must see.

  • Mountain climbing

There are walking trails around and up the mountain for those of all skill levels. Try the longer paths with less incline and if you are adventurous, try climbing the Cuillin summit. Named some of the best hiking in the UK, and boasting a view that is indescribable, this summit is worth checking out.

  • Kayaking and Water sports

Sea kayaking is fun but do so responsibly, know your comfort zone and stay within it. Kayaking the sea offers a great view of the island and an awesome exploration opportunity. Kayak to the beach and have a picnic, enjoy all of the peace and quiet all over the island and on the sea.
